A weekend of workshops, tours, history, majestic instruments & beautiful music
Hosted by the Fayette Opera House Fayette Ohio in the heart of the Bean Creek Valley


 

 

Bronson Mechanical Collection (preconference)
A rare treat awaits up to 30 pre-conference attendees.  The Brunson Collection is a treasure trove of instruments, music boxes, and curiosities.  Only available to private tours, this is a rare opportunity to experience the collection.

Conklin Reed Organ Museum
Proudly displays 95 fully restored and working antique reed organs. Visitors enjoy a tour and sampling of the beautiful sounds of these instruments. The collection includes parlor, cottage and church organs along with elegant rosewood melodeons, dating from the mid-1800’s.

Jackson State Prison/Armory Arts Village
Michigan’s first state prison is steeped in history and relavant today as live/work space for artists. Guided tour studio visit.

 

Jackson Symphony Orchestra
Organists Rodney Jantzi and Lynne Long perform with an ensemble from the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.

 

Fayette Opera House
The Festival convenes on Sunday at the Fayette Opera House.  Tour the historic building and its collection of reed organs restored by Don Glasgow.  Morning coffee hour is followed by a Service in Song accompanied by the magnificent 1890 Mason and Hamlin reed organ.  Lunch and presentation by Dave Murrey of the historic Allmendinger Piano & Organ Company of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The weekend concludes with a concert at Fayette Opera House by Rodney Jantzi.

Featured Organist: Rodney Jantzi
Born in Kitchener Ontario, Rodney Jantzi first became interested in organs ate age 5, at 15 he won a regional competition hosted by Baldwin Organs and 3rd prize at the Central Canada semi-finals.  At age 17, he became principal organist at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Petersburg, Ontario and still holds this position today.
Rodney was introduced to reed organs i in 1994, when he visited a small rural church in Northern Ontario.  In 2008, the Northern church closed, and the organ was given to Rodney.  He restored the organ over the next five months.  When it was almost complete, he posted videos on YouTube. His YouTube channel has since become one of the most popular channels for reed organ, with over one million views.
